The halogen bulb should disappear
The halogen bulb has succeeded the incandescent bulb with the argument: greater respect for the environment and better quality lighting despite the great disadvantage of the latter, which is the delayed diffusion of its light. Although it is appreciated for the subdued atmosphere that it brings into a room, the halogen bulb is still too much energy consuming and it is in this context that the European Commission, after an attempt in 2015, has voted to ban halogen bulbs by autumn 2018.
A continuing disappearance of energy-consuming technologies
The process began with incandescent bulbs that were banned in 2013 for production and sale in Europe. The latter use 95% of their energy consumption to heat the bulb and only 5% is used to produce light. Among other things, especially due to the heat produced, incandescent bulbs are fragile and do not last long. The poor performance of the incandescent, as well as their significant energy consumption, were the reason for them, and the European Commission made the decision to withdraw them from the market. However, incandescent bulbs are still available on the internet since the prohibition of sale concerns only the physical shops. Some e-commerce and marketplace, therefore, benefit from selling incandescent bulbs that remain, including here. In spite of their bad note in consumption of energy, incandescent ones are largely appreciated for the beauty of their light which is pleasant for the eyes and ideal to install a subdued atmosphere at home.
It is finally the turn of halogen bulbs to disappear from our markets since they consume too much energy, and therefore are harmful to the planet.
Faced with these changes, the LED is back in force
First of all, LED technology is the most environmentally friendly, since it consumes on average 10 times less than the incandescent bulb and 6 times less than halogen and 5 times less than the compact fluorescent. It is therefore ecological but also allows to make big savings in energy and the purchase since a LED bulb can last up to 25 000 hours. Powerful, durable and eco-friendly, the LED is also pleasant to the eye and does not produce heat so burn accidents are avoided.
In addition, the LED is beautiful, and with the enthusiasm of filament bulbs and lighting for decorations in general, the LED bulb is now only in the form of a standard bulb but also under the vintage bulbs with apparent filaments, straight or twisted, returning a warm light perfect to sublimate the decor of a living room.
With the imminent disappearance of incandescent bulbs and the planned halogen bulbs, LED technology, with its many advantages, continues to conquer the market little by little.
